Recently, my mother and me took a trip to New York. it was our first time on a vacation together in a new state. FYI: prepare for dramtic temperature changes… especially when you come from Wisconsin. anyway, all was well. and of course one of the best trips i ever had. me and my mom had a blast, we went to time square (crazier than you can imagine), we took wild cab rides (felt like we were in the middle of a stock car race), and, my personal favorite, we saw Phantom of the Opera… it was breath taking…. well we are back at home in are boring lives where every day ticks away and i constantly think of the chaotic mishaps and adventures we found in New York City! somehow, I managed to survive this summer, reguardless that it has yet to end.

SUMMER LIFE
The Beach and all it has to Offer
Summer is the time for using all the new independence we gained over the school year. It is also the time to go out in the sun and have fun. The way I have been doing that is by going to the beach at least twice a week. Some times have been really sunny and fun and others have been cloudy and cold, but this last one was a wild ride. One of my friends just recently started dating this guy and we decided to invite him and a friend to one of our great beach excursions. All was going well until the friend started making rude comments and it was apparent that this wasn’t going to be a peaceful car ride or day. After the twenty minute ride, we were throughly annoyed with the kid and just wanted to get in the water and have fun. That was going great until we came upon these older guys playing volleyball in the water near us and one of them asked us if we wanted to play. We quickly denied their invitation and went to shore to tan a little while the sun was out. By that time, the guys were back from their walk on the beach and we had exhausted every bromance joke we could think of. After a nice picnic lunch, we went back into the water and were checking to make sure that those same creepy men weren’t in the water too. We scanned the shore and spotted them looking in our direction and we noticed one of them holding a camera. After a short deliberation, we rushed back to out towels and quickly tried to be as far away as possible. We left soon after and the ride home was torture listening to my friends boyfriend second guessing our directions and his friend telling us the music was terrible. As soon as we dropped them off, we finally were able to relax and we vowed that we would never have a day like that at the beach ever again.
My Summer Road Trip
Well this summer I went on a road trip with my family and stopped in three different states. The first stop was Florida, where we went to Disney World and spent about five days there. It was a very long drive down, twenty and a half hours to be exact. While in Disney we got to visit my cousin, and see where she works and lives. Since she works at the Disney World parks, we got many opportunities to do so, along with great discounts. One of the nice things about having a cousin that works there is that we got to stay at a awesome hotel, the yacht club. Anyways after that we drove to Indiana to visit another cousin and her husband and kids. We don’t see then often, so this was our first time seeing there new house they just built; it was huge! While there I spent time with my second cousins, hanging out in their pool. I also got to meet a lot of new people since they consider there house a “public” place for friends, and have parties often. After three days there, we left and headed out for Ohio. In Ohio we visited my aunt and uncle, and got to go zip lining. Zip lining had to be one of the scariest things I have ever done! There was 17 zip lines, and 60 aerial challenges ranging in speed and difficulty. Once finishing the zip lines i realized how much fun it was, and can’t wait to go again! Unfortunately though this was our last stop on my road trip, so after two days in Ohio it was heading home. All in all this was an awesome trip, and I am exited to do some of these events again in the future!
Getting Ready for Soccer
Ive pretty much been laying around all summer and didnt realize that soccer starts in around three weeks. So im going to start shooting around and going to captains practices because i dont want to be too out of shape when the season starts.
No Lazy Days for Me
This summer is one of the craziest I’ve ever experienced. It’s already been about a month, and I haven’t had one day off yet. So far, I’ve had a knee surgery, hung out with basically every one of my friends, worked for 13 days at Summerfest, and tried to spend time with my family that I rarely get to see anymore. Sure, these days have been awesome. Some of the things I did were brand new to me. I went to the Harley Davidson Museum, took a boat tour on Lake Geneva, and had a movie night during a tornado. The last one was slightly scary, but fun nonetheless. In this past month I’ve made new friends and made very needed money so I can keep saving for college.
The rest of the summer doesn’t get any less hectic. Even at this moment, I’m furiously typing so I can finish packing and get out the door for a week’s vacation in Door County. Many people would say ‘Um, hello? You’re going on vacation. That should be your down time” but they obvioiusly don’t know my family and my best friend’s family. Between boating, waterskiing, tubing, biking, shopping, eating, getting ready for the day, and trying to have everyone meet up at one place, I get maybe 15 minutes of downtime each day. Then, when we get home, it’s rushing again, trying to get everything done around the house that’s been neglected the past almost 4 weeks. Especially the yardwork (ick!) and finally getting to do the physical therapy with a trainer for my right knee. Those days lead into the surgery on my other knee, working at State Fair, Orchestra camp, and the start of swim practice and getting ready for school.
This summer to me is almost gone already, though I have more than a month left. School will actually be a relief for about two days, and then everything else starts. For me, this is just typical teenage life. I enjoy being busy, though sometimes my parents wish I was home more…usually when my closet becomes a disaster. But, they understand that I’m at least doing something productive with my life. Junior year is really important, and we all know it. It’s exciting, yet terrifying at the same time. I know I’ll need a break eventually. I defintely can’t run on 8 hours of sleep forever. Through everything I do and all the people I meet, I can say that this is one of the best summers so far. But right now, my main sentiment is: I can’t wait for school.
